But there have been physical threats and incitement to violence by the Radical Right Wing for years now. There are thousands of news stories and posts detailing these threats that extend back to the early -mid 2000's. Newsweek, Time, AP, CNN, and even foreign press such as the BBC has reported on the insane levels of intimidation by the Right on the progressives. Since no one did anything to quell it- it has only gotten more and more extreme. The only shock to all of this is that the tragedy of yesterday did not happen sooner.
The "Official Convention Souvenier Shopping Booth" at every Republican Convention since 2004 has featured buttons and bumper stickers that state:
"If They Take Our Guns How Can We Shoot Liberals?"

These people have blood on their hands. That is the main fact in the matter. The Right Wing's violent rhetoric and innuendo has been aimed directly at inciting people with little rational skills or mental capacity, to act violently against Democrats, whom the Right Wing designates as 'the enemy'. This is illegal by UN Resolution, Federal Law and State Laws. Why they are not in jail is only testament to the amount of corporate and banking money and power backing them.

Many (Republicans) stoked anger over the past few months by employing staggering hyperbole over a document they cast as tyrannical and totalitarian.
Boehner, for example, called the vote on the bill “Armageddon,” and said Ohio Rep. Steve Driehaus could be a “dead man” (if he voted on it) in his largely red Cincinnati district. I can understand if he and other Republicans are upset about being grouped with the extremists chucking bricks through windows. But by condemning violence and blasting Democrats in the same breath, Republican leaders implicitly validate the anger spurring these incidents. Instead of defusing the situation, this sort of response escalates it.

If the offense of violence that the other person is being urged or incited to commit is a misdemeanor, inciting to violence is a misdemeanor of the first degree. If the offense of violence that the other person is being urged or incited to commit is a felony, inciting to violence is a felony of the third degree.
